Week 7 - Taking It Easy

Seven weeks... I am patiently (okay maybe not patiently) waiting for week 13 to get here. Week 13 is a huge stepping stone because you are out of your 1st trimester and the chances for miscarriage are a lot lower.

Why am I bringing up miscarriages, well... Last week, Casey and I had to rush to the doctors office because I was bleeding (mostly light pink mucus when I wiped but this day there was a clot of dark red blood). It was so scary and I just knew I had lost the baby. They rushed me back to the sonogram room and I was able to see the baby and see the heartbeat. I broke down crying tears of joy! The doctor said that it was just some light bleeding from my cervix and everything should be good... BUT... I would have to take it easy the next couple weeks and refrain from lifting and overdoing it.

What does that mean for me... That means I have to learn how to ask for help with my craft projects, really it means I need to take a break from the projects. I am going to find stuff I can do while sitting on the couch. It also means that I need to stay clear of lifting weights at the gym and only do light cardio. He said yoga like exercises are fine... And it means I really need to focus on drinking my water intake every day!!!

I know blood isnt always a bad sign, but I am a worry wort and I am so scared that something will happen. I am going to listen to the doctor and take it easy the next couple weeks. That just means I need to have my eating in check even more now since I am taking it easy at the gym.

Did this ever happen to you in any of your pregnancys? I feel like women might be ashamed to talk about it, I know I was kind of hesitant to blog about it until I started reading other women's blogs and they helped calm me down.

Week 6 Repeat

Last week we had our 1st sonogram, a week from yesterday to be exact. Casey and I were on pins and needles... it was so cute to see how excited and nervous he was! Welp, that buble was popped very quickly.

We had our sonogram thinking we were 6 weeks and 3 days only to come to find out that we were only 5 weeks and 2 days and that we wouldn't be able to hear a heartbeat and they didn't even print off a picture for us. The only reason I have a photo of the sonogram is because on the way back to the doctors (across the hall) I went through my file and snapped some photos with my iPhone. Hey, it is my file... I can do what I want!
Seriously though, it bummed us out. We saw a small flicker and they confirmed I was in fact pregnant but when you go in thinking you are going to see/hear one thing and get totally different news, it is a huge bum factor!

The doctor told me to come back in 2 weeks and we can re-do the sonogram and hear a heart beat then. I have my next apt this coming Monday and I will be 7 weeks 2 days... I really hope the heart beat is there and the shape looks less like a little white dot.

Oh and since I am not as far a long as I thought I was... that means my due date changed. My due date was February 8th, my Papa's birthday. Now it is Valentine's Day, February 14th. Funny story, I hate Valentine's Day with a passion. I mean if you want to tell me you love me, tell me on a random day in July not on a day that everyone else feels obligated to tell their loved ones. Plus, I don't want a huge teddy bear and random chocolates that taste like crap. That being said, I know that only 2% of people actually give birth on their due date so I am thinking we will be okay... and if for some reason I do have this dumpling on Valentine's Day, it will be my 1st time I have ever received Flowers for the "holiday" (you know, since our last name is Flowers).

How I am Feeling:
I have my good days and my bad days. Last week was killer as I stayed in bed on Thursday and Friday (instead of going to work) because I had horrible migraines. Come to find out, you aren't supposed to take ibuprofen because it can cause miscarriages!

Eating:
I am still in love with carbs... carbs, carbs and more carbs! Seriously, I had a box of cookies for dinner the other night because the thought of food made me want to vomit. I am trying to not eat my weigh in carbs and I am trying to continue to eat small meals every 3 hours. I am ready for the 2nd trimester when I hope I am able to go back to eating regular food without smelling it and getting sick to my stomach.

Working Out:
Y'all, I was B-A-D last week. I skipped the gym every single day due to headaches and being so sleepy. Now I have medication and I took a vow to skip my naps after work everyday this week and make myself go to the gym. Last night was night 1 and I am proud of myself. I made it to the gym and did cardio for an hour. My son comes home tonight and I plan on taking a walk with him to the park and playing for a while. My goal right now for the 1st trimester is to get at least 30 minutes of cardio in a day, if not more.

My Clothes:
They are getting tighter each day. Probably all the carbs but I have also noticed that my boobs have grown a size already... Casey LOVES that. And I have also noticed my lower abs are harder. They say with a 2nd baby, you grow faster than you do with your 1st. Gosh that is so true! I have some pregnancy clothes but need to invest in some shorts, because NONE of my shorts fit me and it is depressing. I might have had a mental breakdown crying because I am fat... Casey, being a good husband he is, swooped in and made sure to remind me I am pregnant with his child. He is a great man yall!!!

Looking Forward:
My son has been gone this past week, comes home tonight and leaves again on Friday for the month of July, so I have a lot of free time on my hands so I have been working on the nursery. I know I still have 7 months but why not get started and do it slowly so we aren't broke all at once. I have re-finished a desk and a dresser we will use as a changing table and I am going to do the crib next. The rooms theme will be yellow and gray with a touch of elephants... and no, that doesn't mean we aren't finding out the sex. We will find out the sex at the end of August. I am a planner, I need to know!

I am also looking forward to having lunch with one of my best friends, Samantha, who happens to also be pregnant. She is 26 weeks and having a girl!!! We always dreamed of being pregnant together and it happened... now to take photos once my belly starts to show!!!

Welp, that is all I got this week! Hope you are all doing well...

Week 6

We are 6 weeks pregnant! That means, we are now able to go to the doctors... YAY!!! Our appointment is scheduled for today at 3:20 p.m. and Casey and I are both very excited.

Caleb, our 4 year old, has said from the beginning that we are having 2 babies. I don't think we are but this 1st sonogram will tell us if he is right. It would be cool to have twins, but I highly doubt that's the case.

This past week has been tough on me, I have been so sleepy to the point I could fall asleep anywhere. For example, normally I hate sleeping in the car and I never do it... well yesterday, I had a good 45 minute nap on our drive home. All I want to do is sleep!!! Sleep and eat carbs...

Seriously, I am on carb overload. Which isn't helping with my weight, ugh. I have tried to eat meats and veggies but I instantly become so sick and I even ended up in the bathroom throwing up during our visit to a steak house this past weekend. The smell of the meat and the 1/4 of a hamburger I ate did not agree with me!

I mentioned my weight... here is the deal. I want to be healthy and I want to continue to workout out. However, I will not be weighing myself anymore and I will not ask the doctor what I weigh. Why? I am the type of person who gains weight VERY quickly and I can lose it VERY quickly. I know that I am growing a person inside me and I know I have to gain some weight... I don't want to know how much I gain though because it will leave me defeated and bummed out, those are feelings I don't want to feel this time around. I want to enjoy being pregnant and love every minute of it that I can.

I don't plan on pigging out every meal or eating cookies every meal, but I will have a cookie here and there. I plan on continuing at the gym at least 3-5 times a week and hopefully more as the pregnancy goes on and the tiredness starts to fade. Like right now, I rather go to sleep then workout... and I just woke up! Ha!

Thank you for taking this journey with me and my little family. We are so excited and cant wait to welcome our new little addition to the world early next year!!!

I hope you all have a happy and healthy Monday and I will keep you posted on if Caleb was right about the twins... hahaha!

We are PREGNANT!!!!

This is a very exciting year for us... a wedding and now a baby!

I am going to TRY to blog weekly on updates with how I am doing with my pregnancy... who knows I might help someone else later on down the road!

Finding Out:
Caleb, our 4 year old, woke up one morning and told me that God told him he put a baby in my belly on Wednesday and that there was one girl and one boy in there. I actually took a couple test and they came back negative. Then out I decided to take one more on lunch one day and BOOM... the line just kept getting darker and darker!!! Telling family and friends was the fun part. I am bad at keeping secrets so the whole "waiting until the 2nd tri-mester" thing wasn't for me. The best reaction was from Caleb... he cried because he thought his surprise was going to be a Black Spider-Man costume!

How I am feeling:
So far I feel GREAT!!! I am very exhausted and want to sleep ALL the time, but other than that I think this pregnancy is a LOT better than my 1st. My 1st, I had morning sickness night and day all 9 months. I have been feeling queasy here and there but have not thrown up yet.

Cravings:
I have been living on cookies and other misc. carbs! Anytime I get around meat, mostly chicken, or any kind of veggies... I feel so sick! I have tried to eat them but it makes me want to vomit and I do not want to vomit. I am hoping that after my 1st tri-mester, I will be back to normal. But for now, I am sticking to my workouts and eating as healthy as I can... with a cookie here and there!

Gym Time:
I have stopped going to morning boot camp because I am so exhausted and have a hard time waking up for work, 5:30 am aint cutting it right now. I am getting workouts in on lunch breaks and some after work with friends. I am not doing any core work until after I talk to my doctor. I have been doing cardio and lifting some weights here and there... not straining myself with heavy stuff, but still lifting. I see my doctor on Monday the 16th and will go over my workouts more with him! Baby safety comes 1st!

The Details:
I am currently 5-6 weeks. By the calculator online, I am due February 8, 2015. I go Monday the 16th and will find out more... I really want a girl, but I have a feeling it will be a boy. Caleb is very excited to be a big brother and Casey is thrilled to become a daddy but he is very anxious and worried we wont be able to buy everything we need in the next couple months!

I am looking forward to the next couple months, preparing for a baby is an exciting time!

8 Week Challenge FAQs

As you know, I am hosting a 8 week challenge on my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/fitbyjordan) and I have decided to create this FAQ page to answer some of your questions...

1. When does the 8 week start?
The challenge is from June 9th to August 3rd

2. How do I join?
You will need to take before photos and before measurements. You do not have to message me or tell me you are participating, unless you want to. I suggest telling your friends and family so they can help hold you accountable. At the end of the 8 weeks, you will take after photos and after measurements and then email them to me by August 10th.

3. When do I send in my pictures and measurements?
After the 8 weeks is over and before August 10th via email fitbyjordan@hotmail.com

4. What kind of workout do I need to do?
Anything you want. I suggest looking into some of the trainers pages on www.bodybuilding.com or checking out Pinterest for some at home workouts.

5. What should I eat?
Most of the online trainers on www.bodybuilding.com come with menus, that is a great place to start. I also suggest looking into clean eating... basically eating fresh food, nothing processed. The less labels on your food, the better.

6. What measurements do I need to take?
Right Bicep
Right Thigh
Right Calf
Hips
Navel
Bust
Weight

7. How should I take my photos?
I suggest in a sports bra and shorts but if you are uncomfortable in just a sports bra, wear a form fitting shirt. Take the photos from the front, sides and back. Repeat the SAME photos in the same type of clothes at the end of the 8 weeks.

8. Do I need a newspaper for my before and after photos?
No... You can if you want, but you dont have to have one.

9. Does where I live matter?
Nope, you can live anywhere as long as I am able to ship you the prize if you win!

10. What is the prize?
A new gym bag full of workout goodies!!! You will also be featured on my fitness page on Facebook and have a whole blog dedicated to you.

11. When will the winner be annoucned?
All photos, measurements and stories will be due by August 10th. I will announce a winner on August 11th (my husband's birthday!!)

12. Wait, what do you mean by a story?
I want to know how you lost the weight, what you did for workouts and food. Just a simple story to say who you are, what obstacles you have overcome and what you have achieved. This is what will help motivate people and let them know they can do it too!!

13. I am still confused and have questions you didnt answer on this page... what do I do?
Simple, email me at fitbyjordan@hotmail.com or send me a private message on Facebook.

Hopefully that clears up some confusion!!! I am always here to help if you need anything...
